I made THE BEST chocolate smoothie the other day. I’m telling you it was amazing! I mentioned it during my Healthy Mama’s Mindless Eating class a couple days ago and everyone wanted the recipe, so here it is!
In a high-speed blender, blend:
- 6 – 8 dates, pitted dates
- 1/4 cup whole almonds
- 2 teaspoons maca, optional
- 2 – 4 Tablespoons cacao powder
- 2 – 4 Tablespoons cacao nibs
- 1 1/2 cups Silk “Protein nut milk” with almonds and cashews
- 1 big handful of organic baby spinach
- 4 drops almond flavoring
- 2 droppers full of NuNatural Vanilla NuStevia
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 tray of ice
Blend on high speed for 1 -2 minutes and enjoy!
Definitely adjust the amount of chocolate, dates, and stevia for your own tastes. I like mine rich, creamy, and very chocolatey most of the time and this recipe is all about those things.
The smoothness quite possibly comes from the nut milk. Cashews make smoothies VERY creamy. If using just almond milk, you can add cashews or 1/2 avocado for the pudding-like consistency.
If you DON’T want the smooth texture, use 3/4 cup coconut water and 3/4 cup almond milk. The makes more of a thin milkshake texture.
You can absolutely use this as a base for other flavors as well. If you don’t want chocolate, add some berries or keep it as a Vanilla Almond shake.
Let me know how you like it either by emailing me directly or by joining the “Healthy Mamas Group” over on Facebook.
To your health!
